The World's Fastest Supercomputer
I need one of these for playing games.

Scientists unveiled the world's fastest supercomputer on Monday, a $100 million machine that for the first time has performed 1,000 trillion calculations per second in a sustained exercise.

To put the computer's speed in perspective, if every one of the 6 billion people on earth used a hand-held computer and worked 24 hours a day it would take them 46 years to do what the Roadrunner computer can do in a single day.

Agreed. My PC never seems to render images fast enough.
I wonder how this will benefit the "pi" calculation project.

This makes me think of that movie "The Terminator". Where the computer starts to think for itself and tries to rule the world with machines. I've noticed that when I play my XBOX, it tries to outthink me. I know that playstation 3 tries even harder.
Hopefully this IBM Roadrunner is not given any artificial intelligence programs that may make it try to outthink its creators.

It looks like all this is in its infant stages now, soon to become adult.

I say it's ok to be smart, but one can outthink one's self.

Man, I thought my Quad core PowerMac was fast....wait, it is!!! These are the types of things that scare the crap out of me....what the hell do you need that much processing available?? My bet is that this gets into the gov hands before it gets into the pubs hands.
