I think that there should be competition especially when an open source can take on a proprietary browser. But I think Chrome starting a new war is unlikely. especially since all they seem to have done is make it faster, and most sites load instantly with dsl anyway.

well i would say it never died. i mean firefox and safari seem to compete ever since safari was released for windows which meant that anyone not just mac users can choose between firefox or safari. i think internet explorer doesn't stand a chance, microsoft needs to learn that people do not enjoy warning messages...

User thinks that there is a war on browsers but you can use browser whatever you want. If you want safari, firefox, chrome, opera, etc. It's your choice whether you like it or not as long as your comfortable using it.

May be, but firefox 2 is fine for me. I won't use Google. It's not good for my websites.

You might choose not to use Google's Chrome browser, but you can't stop your visitors from using it.
Have already seen visitors using Chrome in the first week it was out in my stats.
If you build for cross-browser compatibility, then you shouldn't have any problems.

From what I understand about Google/Chrome (based on stuff I've read randomly) is that it sounds like Google is trying to more or less use Chrome to introduce new ideas in hopes that other browser makers latch onto some new concepts, rather than try to take over market share.
Regardless of the intentions... it is a new browser... and in my opinion the browser wars never ended

I don't mind.
I make cross-browser compatible sites using tables. So it's not an issue.
IMO, don't visit your own sites using GC. It may hurt your site ranking in Google.

I tried Chrome. It was alright, but it didn't impress me enough to make me ditch FF. Plus, they already get data from all my searches I do on Google.com, do I really need to feed them even more data about every single site I visit? No thanks.

I am using Chrome
I am using Chrome
I like the Incognito Window mode. In this mode, no cache, no history and cookies are recorded.
I also appreciate the new tab feature. Each tab window runs its own process. If the window hangs, only the tab window is affect. Unlike other browser, the whole tabs of windows have to be closed.
