Blue find funding?
Hi
I'm just interested in how you fund your directory?
Internet.com partnership costs well over at least one thousand dollers a month from my understanding (quoted US $5000 ??)
so if you decided to stop this partnership does that mean your page rank will go down as quickly as it went up? do you intend to continue this partnership?

With money. The green stuff you'll find in your wallet.

That would be hilarious if you could get on 160 of the most high traffic IT sites for just $1000 a month. It would be the bargain of the century.
It costs $7,500 per month for straight ads, or you can do a revenue share for somewhere in the $5,000 per month range.

No. You might notice that Internet.com is not the only place linking to BlueFind. I'm guessing BlueFind would remain a PR8 even if the Internet.com ads stopped tomorrow.

Makes that listing fee look fairly inexpensive when you factor in all the costs of running the direcotry. Dont forget about the hardware and bandwidth costs as well as the labor hours to approve, edit listings to maintain one of the highest qualitiy direcotires on the net.

This is cracking me up a little, you make it sound like 10's of thousands of dollars have been paid for this directory to become successful, which it may have been. Of course there are loads of costs, but its being done for a profit in the long run (I would think), and I'm sure its been well planned so it will be worth it!

Well you need 188 direcotry listings per month just to pay for the advertising assuming the 7500 figure. Another dozen or so to pay for the hardware and bandwidth and then figure the time working on the direcotry that could have been spent consulting or web designing.

ok sure, now lets put this into the equation, a forum with almost 5,000 members probably a few thousand who are here every day, a popular hosting company...
could this be considered a big amount of potential customers?

It's not quite like that.
With forums 5% of members will contribute to 95% of the posts.

5000/100*5 = 250 and we only need just over 188

I think we are averaging something like 30 submissions per day.

Well, your doing very well then - I will be submitting soon
I was thinking just to continue my view a tad further, even if the directory isn't always making mass profit, it is helping the v7inc get a higher PR and more traffic, so your winning there too.

Also note thats per month. The income from a submission only occurs once where as the ad expense occurs monthly. But yes since bluefind has significant exposure the submissions do seem to be comming in quite well.

I expect BlueFind submissions to increase once we start a couple highly targeted ad campaigns, but for now I'm happy with the profitability.
