No option for free submission?
I would like to list my site in bluefind, however, I do not see option for free listing. Is paying $40 the only way to get listed?
Thanks

currently there are only paid submissions. editors may add sites they find useful and after the categories are fully filled out editors will add at least one site to each category. over time other quality resources will get added free.
from personal experience with directories (I have a small one myself) I can tell you that opening up a free site submit option just opens the door for tons of spam submissions.

A PR8 Directory is just begging to get spammed - thats another reason why we all gotta pay.

$40 keeps the rif-raf out but is a small price to pay for folks that are serious ... so even ignoring the income aspects of it for Bluefind, it's a great way to "pre-screen" submissions and greatly increase the quality.

Exactly... $40 is minimal, but enough to keep the spammers out...

$40 is cheap considering how much work is involved in reviewing and listing a site.

Just curious, why would anyone wanted to be listed? (i'm playing "devil's advocate here").
Is the only real benifit to be listed on a page with a high PR?
If its PR, I can understand it, but if its s.th. else please explain!
(Please dont' read this as someone trying to bash your effort, i'm just trying to understand the lure).

Well its many things:
High PR, Tons of traffic, being listed in potentialy the worlds best dir, the prices are no doubt going to get higher as submissions continue and a few more.

On the whole I agree with the principle of paying. Just remember that for many of us $USD40 is a lot more money than it is for you guys in the States due to exchange rates. For me it is effectively $70, and for many people in other countries it will be even worse.
Too rich for me, sorry.

it is one of the hardest things to balance on the web. you want to help people and want to do a good job, but certain price points are prohibitive for some portions of the world.
I have been selling a good # of my ebooks recently and I am surprised at some of the locations of some of the people who buy it...never thought my ebook would have that sort of reach, especially because it is not the cheapest one on the market at $40 currently.

Yeah, that's true as well... $40US = $55Cdn... but it's still not that bad... better than $299 for Yahoo...

Ya had to tell him lol!
John the avg wage here in UK is £6000 per year, so £21 means alot to us, you can buy a car with that much.
 (i hope he believes that!)
