Main Category or Subcategory?

Hello! I am getting ready to submit my site and have a question regarding the category selection. I noticed that some listings are under the main category (such as 'shopping') and others are listed under a sub-category within 'shopping'. Can we place our listing under the main category if our website spans across multiple sub-categories? Or is this a premier listing that costs more?

Sites submitted to the main categories generally get moved to a subcategory. Sponsored listings will stay in the category where they are submitted.
