Yep, something is happening to BlueFind and it doesn't look good. However, like they say, buy PR at you own peril

What doesn't look good? The fact that the home page is still PRE8, does that horrify you? Or the fact that almost all of the pages are back in the index, does that make you shudder? Or the fact that the newly re-indexed pages do not show PR on the updated datacenters; the normalcy of that makes you sick to your stomach?
I swear. People, take a chill pill. Relax.

Obivisouly John must be hiding his head in the sand. Normally when so many make a note of the same thing there is usually something to worry about. I wonder what kind of pill he is on.

A site: www.bluefind.com search only shows 25 pages listed in Google, all supplemental results.

Hi guys,
I paid to get my site listed in Bluefind also and have seen the PR vanish off pages but lets hang fire for a while and see what happens.
As for your comments about only 25 pages listed, where are you getting that stat from?
I just ran a check to see how Bluefind is doing and I get back the following:
Yahoo = 6980
Alltheweb = 6860
MSN = 6980
Google = 19,600

As for me, it appears that in the World page ( http://www.bluefind.com/dir/54.php) the reason of the gray PR bar is because of 3 links on it...
- www.chicago-condos.net
- www.worldinfocountries.com
- www.dirone.com/search.php?about=world
This 3 websites show a gray PR bar, so I guess BlueFind is getting those pages devalued with a gray bar too because of linking to "bad neighbors".

I would suggest those pages you list BF linking to may have only gone grey this update. Do you know prior to the update what their status was?

I think that has more to do with duplicate content. That list of languages is used in hundreds, if not thousands, of web pages.

What is happening with Blue Find and some other directories

It's not a fact, it's Toolbar PR 8. What the real PR is I don't care.

Nope. But you have to set filter=0 to see them

Nope, the facts seem to indicate that many of BlueFinds categories (that DID have PR) now show none.

All relaxed here John, how about you? You sound very up-tight.

Dave, really, Do your homework before posting.
site:bluefind.com bluefind gives you:
Quote:
|
Results 1 - 10 of about 42,800 from bluefind.com for bluefind
|
After you go so far through the results, you get:
Quote:
In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 53 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.
|
Click on the link provided and you get the rest.
That's called standard operating procedure. I t's the same thing for any site search with thousands of resulting URL's.

Again, doing your homework before posting comes in handy. Of course the pages had PR, because they had been indexed prior to the previous PR update. Then they dropped from the index, as I'm sure you know; and I am also sure you know that pages that were only just indexed do not show PR if the indexing occurs immediately before the PR update. You know this - just need to get the eggnog out of your system.

Toolbar PR is the only PR we have available to us and it's the only PR that matters.

John, I suggest you take heed of your own advice and do your homework. There are ONLY 54 pages shown without setting the filter to 0

LOL! Oh no it's not. It is not "standard" at all. Check out DMOZ as one of MANY examples:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search
That is standard John and always has been.

Wrong yet again John! Toolbar PR means nothing, it's real PR that counts and can cause pages to rise/fall.

Dave,
It's late and I may be a bit sleepy, but the "site:dmoz.com dmoz" search only gives me 147 resulting URL's before I run into:

Like I said, it's standard operating procedure. Do your damn homework before posting - it'll save me trouble and it'll save you embarrassment.

Yes John, my apologies about the DMOZ example, it was wrong.
However, loosing pages and PR is normally down to the site owner, not Google. If you are have stuffed up something, or you have been a naughty boy. Either way, it's no skin off my nose
