Been discussed here:
http://www.v7n.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15734

John - if you about - are you aware of this:
I just did a site:www.bluefind.com search
I clicked on several of the pages that turned up --- they all redirected to the home page ---- surely that is not good thing. --- it does not happen to them all

I am not sure if i post an eg link to the pages here, if it still does it, but will try: http://www.bluefind.com/dir/8248.php

ADDED - after posting the message, I clicked on the link and it did redirect to home page. According to Google, that page is supposed to be about New Zealand

That happens when a page is no longer there. Rather than give a 404, it redirects to the main page.

You are correct. But this doesn't help the problem of pages that are legit not having a cache. Almost all the pages are given the "supplemental results" listing, which many of us know is a kiss of death.

It was a great idea, and the directory sure made some money, but it looks like it has officially been whacked.

I've never seen a penalized site retain PR8. I seriously doubt there is a penalty; more likely a snafu that will be resolved with time.

i've seen penalties on sites that still keep there PR
PR8 no, PR6 yes.
I can see why Google doesn't want empty categories to penetrate there results just because a site has a strong PR.
They know they have a flaw that needs to be fixed with Pagerank, probably why Bluefind is suffering in the mean time.
Just catalogue/list the categories that have listings in them and see what happens?
