Over a year ago, Google zapped Bluefind. BlueFind went from PR8 to PR0, and referrals from Google all but disappeared.
Why this happened is unclear. Everybody has a pet theory. I tend to believe that Google whacked BlueFind because it deserved to be whacked. The editor in charge was less than diligent in enforcing the stated editorial guidelines, and I was sort of MIA where BlueFind was concerned.
Whatever the cause, the categories were a mess and a lot of site that should never have been listed where listed. Fortunately, many of those were one-year sponsored listing, and are no longer listed in BlueFind.
We've been overhauling BlueFind and moving sites to the most relevant categories, delisting sites that have gone 404/domain expired/otherwise no longer listable.
As coincidence would have it, Google has for some odd reason returned some PageRank to BlueFind. Mostly PR2 and PR3's, but we have already blocked Google and other engines from indexing the directory pages because the redesign will use new pages.
The redesigned BlueFind will use a different directory script, customized, and the URL's will be formatted like this:
As we import the listing from the old database to the new, the listings in the visible database will gradually disappear. Each lsiting is being imported by manually and reviewed in the process. Descriptions and titles and keywords will be edited as needed to meet our quality guidelines.
I think that's exactly what is needed. The reasons I didn't submit my sites to Bluefind was because there seemed to be a lack of organization. I'm sure that reorganizing things will make it a better value to submitters.

Yes, James, it was an absolute mess. It's a lot of work to put it in order, but we're making progress
Great to hear. I thought it was very cool that Bluefind was quickly able to become a hugely important directory and would like to see it back where it belongs so to speak.

I used to have (and paid) for the listing in BlueFind.
But I can't find it there anymore. I can't even find it via your search on http://directory.v7n.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi
That is not exactly what I have paid for
I have paid for the listing on www.bluefind.com.
You are referencing to www.bluefind.org which is obviously a different domain, different BL, .org vs .com, etc
From that post: http://www.v7n.com/forums/sevenseek-...sevenseek.html you have said that in case SevenSEEK sells, the new owner will be contractually obligated to respect the currently listed sites, and prohibited from removing listings without good cause.
Well, my listing was removed from domain bluefind.com.
I don't care if there are any other BlueFind Directories exist under any other domain. That is NOT what I have paid for. Make sense?
Again, bluefind.org worth nothing to me and I wouldn't pay a penny to be added to the directory with PR0 and 0 BL.

IMHO, a listing on bluefind.org is worth much more than a listing on bluefind.com because bluefind.com is obviously penalized in Google.
Unlike other directory owners who simply abandon a directory when it is penalized, John is actually trying to resurrect the directory and give submitters continued value. Moving to a new domain is not a cheap and easy thing to do.
It seems to me somewhat illogical that you would NOT demand money back from someone who simply abandoned their directory because it was penalized as the listing would remain exactly where you submitted it. OTOH you demand money back from someone who goes to the time and trouble to improve your listing by moving it to an unpenalized domain because the listing is in a different location.
IMHO, you got what you paid for - a listing for the lifetime of the directory. Plus you're getting an added bonus - a listing in a new directory that you didn't pay for.
