Thanks, Rich. I noticed About.com was in the top 100 sites. I think we might get top 500 if we do this right. No easy task, but it's a long term goal.

It's definately an excellent mark to shoot for. I think it's attainable. Will be excellent for advertising / marketing.

It's never moved from #1 - no movement produces a straight graph.

I didn't realize their was a directory here. You guys are not small potatoes at all. 8 with google. How long has this directory been on the Internet (if you don't mind me asking)?

hi john,

here's what i dont get-
according to alexa, average page views is around 10 pages- which is really high.
but, most of bluefind directory is empty.
why would people spend 10 clicks around on a directory which is mostly empty? just interested :-)

Possibly trying to find something.

Maybe there is a message there. We shouldn't give the user everything they want on one or two pages, but we should set up our pages like a scavenger hunt and make them work for the info.

I get a lot of emails saying "I tried to find where to submit but can't find a suitable category", so I'm guessing that people are wandering through the directory trying to find the right category.

I wonder if it would go higher if I installed that spyware....

Hi, the amounth of pages is in alexa a bit deceptive with a low Reach per million users: becaurse if you have one or two persons with a toolbar going to the directory creating 100 pages thats the max per day in alexa and 24 persons only visiting one page you have a average of 10 pages under the calculations of alexa what realy is inportant in the alexa ranking is your Reach rank: thats realy how many persons are comming to the site based on alexa toolbar installations and the higher the amount the more difficult to minipulate.

Further I like your directory. and the info in your forum so keep up the good work.

alexa is known to be off, but gets a bit better as you get around the top 10,000. it still has a bias toward webmaster traffic and other net heads, but I think hitwise is about the only thing better and they cost a bunch of cash.

Alexa rankings are off, but they can tell you some things. Especially as the rankings go higher.
