Just A Suggestion #2 :)
This is my second suggestion for V7N
I was wondering what everyone would think about adding a gaming forum. Now, before everyone starts saying "no way" I do think it should be considered.
I do fully understand that the goal of V7N is to house quality content - whereas a game forum would not have that. However, think about : Everyone needs a break during posting serious content to just have a bit of fun. And everyone WILL make sure that they get that break. Would you prefer for people to go to another website to have fun playing a game or would you rather them stay here at V7N? Personally, I want all the members to stay here!
The type of games I am talking about are Forum Games such as word association, number games, guys vs gals (yes Cricket, the guys will win but don't let this effect your decision ).
I don't think that there is any debate about whether or not the addition of such a forum will be successful or not. I am sure that if a Games subforum was added to the Forum Lobby that it would easily have over 1,000 posts in it within the first few days. But, my only concern would be if V7N is ready to handle that number of posts per day and the amount of traffic that would come to the forum

Seems like a natural since those kinda games tend to spring up in places anyway. My first thought is that it might be good to do it but auto-restrict access to those that already have 50+ posts. Otherwise we'd have hordes of people making their "50 quality posts" to get a sig in a thread labeled "The Person Above You".
Could it be used to otherwise inflate post count? Sure, but it isnt like we're paying people by the post, so who cares. Make it no-follow if that is an issue to anyone.
ADDED: Hey Wiz... bet you'd get better traffic on this one if the title of the thread stated the purpose. Just a thought. =-p

I think that there should be a 100-post rule for the forum probably so that members with less than that can play the games yet. As far as post inflating goes, who cares? I don't care if a member has 100 or 10,000 posts. It all depends on the quality of their posts
As you said, games pop up in other forums so it seems like a good idea to have them in one centralized location

hmm somehow, I'm thinking.... no.
Never happen.
Don't get me wrong, I hang out at a couple of game forums, but they are the game developer forums, not general gaming website forums.
It will never happen here. Ever. In a million, gazillion billion intergalactic supercluster lifetimes. Ever.

He could just practice a bit and I'm sure he will win, maybe. Alright, maybe not.

Maybe I read it wrong but CyberWizard is not talking about a gaming forum. He meant posting-games, such as: "5 words story...", "google says whaaaat...", etc.
I too think the lobby should have a separate place for all those threads since they were created just for fun and do not invite to any kind of discussion, that way we can move the posting games to that new forum and leave the discussions in the lobby.
That will break 10000 SEO rules though

Ya, that will never ever happen either.
The Lobby is more than enough to post run-on, zero discussion topics, and personal-hang-out-threads. I could be wrong of course -though maybe in some world, where the sky glows bright pink and the candy-floss clouds float above a gumdrop forest, it works for some, it won't work here.
Ever, ever and so on and so forth... (:

IMHO, I come here because it's a webmaster forum/webmaster resource. I think adding these kinds of games while fun, are kind of childish and are only used by a hand full of members to pad their post counts as previously alluded to.
I'd much rather there be more helpful content here than goofy content here because it's the help and insight from fellow wembasters that keeps me coming back, not fun 'n games in a publicly accessible spam forum.
Sorry, just my honest opinion.

I'm not saying its a bad idea, generally speaking.

I am suggesting that it be just a subforum in the Lobby Forum since the lobby is just for general discussion and most of the posts in it are not webmaster related.
I do understand what you are saying about people padding their posts. However, I really don't see what the big deal is about that. Who cares if someone makes 500 posts there? It isn't quality content so it's not like everyone will be impressed with their post count. Personally, I would prefer for people to pad their post count in a games forum instead of posting a bunch of worthlessness in serious topics.
