What are the coloured chevrons for?

Under the member name on each post there are coloured chevrons and coloured dots, the number of each varies for different members. What do they mean please?

They are related to the number of posts you have in the community.

They look very pretty

but the number of posts is shown anyway so is just something that is there then which doesn't mean too much, I just wondered and thank you for the reply.
