Redirecting?

ok i am going to have a link outside of my website that talks about "example.com".

when the link is clicked it will visit my site, giving it traffic, then open up a window (in front) that takes them to "example.com".

However i still want my site (mysite.com/index/mypage.php) to be displayed on the behind window/tab , so that after they have done with "example.com" they will see my site.

One more thing is i don't want a new window showing "example.com" to pop up for the traffic that found there own way to (mysite.com/index/mypage.php).

To sum things up:

>Outside link clicked
>>redirecting page loads, and it opens new window/tab (example.com)
>>>redirecting page redirects to (mysite.com/index/mypage.php)

That way when people find there own way to (mysite.com/index/mypage.php) they don't get a new window/tab to "example.com"

And the outside is only able to link to my site, so the magic has to happen on my redirecting page.

Hope that is understandable.

So yeah, any ideas??

Thanks
Ryan

I think I understand. If so, here's what I might do.

Assume index.php is the main page of your site, the one you want to be accessed directly without the additional page and the same one you want showing when the additional page is closed.

I'd create a second page, maybe have it look exactly like index.php. Call it index2.php. The purpose of index2.php would be twofold; spawn the additional page then countdown from 5 seconds and then redirect itself to index.php. Have your outside link go to index2.php.

That may be more juggling than you want the pages to do, but it would serve the purpose with some simple javascripts.

I'm just a small guy here with very few posts but I have been building sites since 1995.

I believe that too many redirection is a unhealthy practice.
