FTP Help Needed for Newbie

I recently registered my first domain through fatcow.com, and I built my website with a website builder. I have next to no knowledge of html, scripting, nor much knowledge about web hosting in general. What I'm trying to do is pretty simple, I think, but I can't seem to find a guide for it anywhere. It deals with ftp. What I'm able to come up with by googling is all kinds of other ftp-related articles, but nothing detailing exactly what I'm trying to do. If anyone could just point me to a guide on this specific process, I would be very grateful.

I'm trying to set up a ftp account for a user who can access a specific folder in the website and be able to both download from and upload to it. But I want everything to be done from the browser and not through an external program. I'm trying to make an easy process for clients who need to send me large files.

Thanks in advance for any help on the subject.

You can use your own browser like IE together with Window$ explorer to upload and download files from your ftp server. Just type in ftp://urUSERNAME@ftp.yoursite.ext/folder/folder/ and provide the following log-in information. After being logged-in you will literally drag and drop files from Windows explorer to your browser to upload. To download just "save target as" the link of the file/s you want to download in your browser. But an FTP client could offer you more functionality than your regular browser & explorer combination. I suggest Filezilla if you want to use an FTP client. Click here for more detail explanation.

If you use Firefox then there is this ninfy addon you can use:

http://fireftp.mozdev.org/

It's the best in my opinion

Another thing, not mentioned and maybe you already know, so not to demean you, but you'll also have to set the ftp account up for this user/s through your domains control panel.

He said he was a newbie. I think your post is helpful, not demeaning at all.

If he would tell us the name of his control panel someone will tell him the exact steps. It is pretty simple with cPanel.
