Have a website idea, want some opinions
I am planning to design a personal site announcing my engagement, my wedding plans and info about the wedding itself, including pics and maybe video once the wedding happens. I was thinking that this could be a good business. Designing basic pages for engaged couples who want to inform long distance relatives and friends of their impending nuptials. I was thinking something like www.ourweddedbliss.com/joeandsue or something like that(not a real site - and the names would be their first names, last name or something they'd like).
I figured I'd have a few templates that they could choose from for one price or if they wanted something custom (like someone having a wizard of oz wedding or something like that) for more, price depending on how customized they wanted it. Then offer x number of months updates and hosting for $x... like maybe 3 months of updates and hosting for $25, 6 months for $40 and a year for $60...
I'm sure I'm not the only bride to be that would find this helpful and nice. Any ideas or suggestions? thanks bunches

As more and more things are coming onto the internet, I think that'd be a great idea to do.

Sounds good. I think being able to put pictures up quickly would be great for those that don't make the actual wedding and don't want to wait months to see pictures.

dont get it
I don't see the point. You would still have to send invitations, why have a website? I can see posting pics after the wedding, but what is there to look at on the site before the wedding that wont be on the invitation?
I guess that's coming from the bachelor's perspective....I could see this working as a business because women love stuff like this. Just seems like another unecessary expense to me.

I partly agree. There isn't much point in the website till after the wedding.
Maybe a blog type thing incorporated into the site would be good. This way the bride and/or groom can post whatever they want in the days leading up to the wedding. Last minute announcements, how things are going, funny things that happen, etc.
This would even be good for after the wedding. I think it would make the site more interesting and give more of a reason for people to actually go to the site.

That's part of the whole thing. It's kind of like putting your engagement in the newspaper. To start it would announce the engagement. Then as time went on and updates were made, could be used to announce where the bride and groom to be are registered (since that's something proper manners say not to put on an invitation). Information about local lodging could also be posted, for out of town people who are going to need a place to stay. Menu options and other things like that could also be put up. An email form could even be put up for people to rsvp to the wedding by internet instead of sending back the little cards. Then once the wedding takes place, the info would change, where they could have pics put up, either just a few on a page, or a gallery with all the pics, info about the ceremony, reception, etc. Things like that.
And littleFella - I love the ourdivorcedbliss.com too
I was also thinking this could work for expectant parents too. Keep a blog type site going keeping long distance relatives and friends updated on the pregnancy, posting sonogram pics, etc. Then, once the baby's been born, posting birth pics, etc, and a blog that the parents can update on the baby's firsts. Again, the charges would depend on how much involvement I had... plus hosting.

the wedding was two weeks ago, so all of the site needs chasnging nowm once they have pics etc.
I think there is every reason to have a wedding site before your wedding - that one I did has hen and stag info, accommodation, gift list, guestbook etc all of which are relevant to the wedding and these pages did help ppl find out about the wedding, if they couldnt get in touch with the couple themselves (the URL was included in the invites).

it a great idea, lots of potential, just you might want to include an option they can passwor dprotect images and things, some people don't like there picture all over the net. You could possible tie in the parent site. Have a whole, what is this couple up to "They've had 40 children" or something click it and goto the other site. I think a lifetime fee would be wise for the parent site and wedding. That way they have insentive to use all parts of the site.
Most customers are gonna be the women. Not too many guys are gonna spend this much time posting there wedding things, maybe kids pictures but idk.
