Google uses tables!
I use a mix of both css and tables.
Fusion, how many times do you change your Avatar per day? Are you using some kind of randomized script to display it? Good GOD, man!

Doesn't really matter what google uses. They are a search engine, not web design experts.

Actually Google is a media company.
And if tables are good enough for a $30B company, then they're good enough for all of us! Right?

Just cuz google does it, doesn't mean that's how it should be. People need to get over their obsession with google.

$30B speaks for itself.
I'm not obsessed with Google. Nor did I say, "Google does it, so that's how it should be done." My point was, if it works...IT WORKS!
If anything, some people are obsessed with CSS.
BTW- Ebay, Amazon and BBC use tables too.

I'm not saying that you can't use tables. They do work. They are just going to be a PITA later when you decide to redesign.
I don't really give a rat's ass what google, ebay or amazon uses for their sites. What they do is their problem. Makes no difference to me.

Because most of the css trend designers spend all their time on their perfect code and forget to make an interesting site. Thankfully they can change it so easily!

Vaat?
**** css how about that?
I like it for some formatting, I might try a complete one soon, but all my work starts in Photoshop, so...
<admin edit - the word censor is there for a reason - please don't manipulate it>

Companies are slow on changing, Google can be slow as well. Just because a company is doing something a certain way NOW, doesn't mean thats how they would do it if they could start over.
ESPN is a perfect example, they've used tables forever, their site is massive, but they are slowly converting everything to CSS. Why? Because its easier to manipulate, loads faster and saves money on bandwidth. All good reasons to use CSS. But not using it, just because you can't use it properly, is the lazy way out of the situation.

His thread was edited because it was thought he was mispelling the 'F' word, when he was actually referring to FCUK

His post had absolutely nothing to do with that. He was manipulating the word censor.

Well tbh it was a tongue in the cheek reference to what is already a manipulation of 'censorship' the fcuk label.

http://www.tutorio.com un-boxy enough for you ?
And besides the boxy 'css look' happens to be in style right now.
Though I am not one of those zealots who will tell you to abandon tables, if the end result works and looks good then the wether you use tables or not.
I just think most people using tables would be surprised how easy it is to make the switch.
