Trouble in uploading files to web server.

Hello
Excuse me if this is a wrong place to ask this question. I am new and in hurry to find some help.
I am uploading some video files in zip format to web server. After uploading, the idea is , my visitor should go and download them from my page.
When I tested it by downloading, the zip file downloaded from MY WEBSITE to my computer is not getting opened. I am getting "file invalid" message. It seems it is corrupted.

I am in real hurry to finish this work as soon as i can. I browsed all the net but could not find right answer. I have windows vista which automatically zips my files. So I am not using winzip.
I am hosting my files on Linux platform. Is this a compatibility issue?
