New guy needs help - Learn Coding

Hello, I belong to a club and volunteered to be the webmaster for the website. I did this because no one else was stepping up. I know nothing about what I've gotten myself into. The club is willing to send me to some classes. I live in the Minneapolis area; I am not looking to get any type of degree, so I don't want to take classes that are going to stretch out. Can some give me some idea of what I should/where I should look?

Thanks Bill

You could work your way through the tutorials at w3schools first (free).

Before you work on these tutorials, you have to figure out what technology the existing site is built with and then go from there.

What do you feel you need to learn?

Managing a site can be far different from creating one.

You can always use a WYSIWYG software. Some of the pro do not agree but, it works pretty good.............:-)

Hello Bill,

Jim suggested a WYSIWYG software, which isn't a bad idea, I do believe some are still free, I know this old Mozilla web browser I have came bundled with a composer. The trouble with using WYSIWYG software it puts a lot of bloat (coding) into a webpage then it's hard to have the page validated. That's how I started years ago, with Netscape's composer, so this might not be a bad idea for you.

Htmlbasictutor suggested w3schools, an excellent place to learn, basically that's where I learned myself besides the Webmaster Forums.

I am going to supply a link, I have NoteTab Lite which is a free software for coding webpages. The nice thing I like about the software you can click on the button which will take you to the browser to see what you have and what it will look like on the web.
