Relative URL Question

I could try it myself, but I am too lazy at the moment.

Let's say I create a link to /
on domain.com/dir/page.html
Where does this link point to?
domain.com or domain.com/dir ?

I know this is sorta off subject and maybe not of interest. I think search engines actually prefere complete urls. Not 100% sure.

if you say /somthing.htm
it would be
domain.com/something.htm
if you want domain.com/dir/something.htm
it has to be
/dir/something.htm
