Server side scripting languages

I'm taking a class for coldfusion right now and really kinda enjoying it. I'm a designer first and 'code' second, but coldfusion seems to be fairly easy to understand and seemingly pretty powerful.

I don't see much about coldfusion on this forum... mainly php. Is this because it's free? Any info/insights about the popularity or lack of other languages?

Does anyone see macromedia bringing coldfusion onto the web like flash and making it a standard? Or will php win the battle for a server language?

just curious what everyone else thinks.

Along with that discussion there is a rather indepth one going on over at devshed http://forums.devshed.com/t205286/s.html on why php is more popular then CF and what Macromedia plans on doing in the future.

The coles notes version though is free/paid and hacker/professional.
