Bandwidth

About how much bandwidth would it take monthly to stream MP3s constantly (live streaming Shoutcast-style) with a maximum of about 100 or so listeners at around 96 bitrate?

I know there are variables, I'm trying to get a rough idea.

Thanks.

ok here are my rough calculations, maybe someone else can check them over

96 bitrate is 96 kilobits per second which means 12 kilobytes per second
24 hours a day means (12x60x60x24) which is 1036800 kb of usage or 1012.5 mb or 0.989 gb per user per day.

So you are looking at essentially 1GB of transfer per day per user, you mentioned 100 users for a month, so it would be 2966.30 gb for the month for 100 users.

Though if you are dealing with bandwidth of this size you arent buying it by the GB but it gives you an idea for what it would take.

Edit: Just wanted to add that it works out to almost exactly a 10Mbps connection which can run from $250+/month depending on the server configuration and location.
