Has anyone tried Nvu?

I had never heard of this before. Has anyone on here used or tried this out?

Quote:
Finally! A complete Web Authoring System for Linux Desktop users as well as Microsoft Windows and Macintosh users to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver.
Nvu (pronounced N-view, for a "new view") makes managing a web site a snap. Now anyone can create web pages and manage a website with no technical expertise or knowledge of HTML.

It is somewhat nice, but I prefer to use Kate or Kwrite and view it in a browser. Probably for someone on windows it is a nice program for designing a page. It is free, so give it a try. If you don't like it just remove it.

See picture below.

I have tried NVU and use it often. Try it as it is 'free'...
It is often updated with the most recient addition of XHTML support. There are a few bugs, but you get what you paid for.

It is all I need in an Xhtml editor

I tried Amaya at the start of this year and was quite dissapointed by it. Although in saying that, I have just had a look at the new screen shots on the Amaya site and it looks a lot different so I must have another look at it when I get home.

Question nvu table widths

I am designing a page using nvu and generally speaking, I like it. BUT, I have made a 4 column table, with the first column being smaller than the other three which are supposed to be of equal width.
I used the slider marks at the top of the table to arrange the colunn widths, and that worked on the day I first created the table. but when I opened the table today, the first column had stayed the same width, but the other three had all changed to varying widths. After mucking around here and there and then going into source code and adjusting each width ot the three columns and getting no change, I then did a EDIT-SELECT ALL, and then checked all the table widths and they seemed OK.
but on returning to NORMAL, I found those three columns still all to hell.
So then I thought well maybe if I type into the columns they will expand to the specified width and then word wrap. But it didn't work that way, it just word wrapped on the columns as displayed.
So I don't know what to do, other than save the page, rename ia new page and copy the text over from one trial to the other, but with the column widths set in the source code rather than using the sliders. But what the hell, nvu should allow me to use the sliders and hold the column widths when I save and close.

Smile nvu-table design

STOP PRESS! I think I have got it right now. In my first effort which was concluded very late into the night, I think I must have somehow committed the cardinal error of not saving my work, after some late fiddling around.
Anyway I opened a new page, set it up like the previous, saved it, then opened it again and the columns were still in the required positions. So after checking my email I closed down.
Then this morning, I reopened the new page, and lo and behold everything was still OK.
Thanks for your comment tho chicgeek.

Well, glad to know all turned out alright. If you have a new question, don't be afraid of creating your own thread - new queries in old threads tend to go unseen.

Oh, and welcome to v7n.
