Need help on very large website

Hello all,

I spent about 12 months building a large website with about 1000 products that i am selling from a distributor. The webpage has gotten so huge that its just too much time to go to the distributor website every DAY to check on inventory and change prices, add or remove products and that sort. I know there are many sites out there that sell half a million products by a single webmaster - not a whole team of them, and I dont know how they do it. PHP? SQL? CGI?

I am very good at html, but im a total noob with php or databases. I read a little bit of stuff today, but I'm still not sure if this is what I'm suppose to be using for building a site with 1000s of products or not.

Any recommendations on what I should do?

Also, is there something out there that will work in a way where it can automatically go to the distributor website and check inventory and prices automatically and reflect them on to my website in real time so i dont have to do all that stuff every day?

Thanks

You get your products from a single wholesaler? They should have a back end that you can plug into.

Me thinks.

Yes, ask you wholesaler on how you can gain access to the inventory database. They should allow you to tap directly into it if you are a trusted seller of there products.
