Large HTML Files

Hey folks,

When I design a page the finished product is usually 18k or bigger and thats using just one or two images.

I am currently using Dreamweaver and creating my own templates.

Is there a good tool out there that I can use to shrink my pages to say approx 7k - 10k?

Cheers,

Bingo!

That's not that big at all. Don't worry about the size of your pages as long as they are under 50k. Really. Make sure that your code has no errors, this makes a page slower than a few extra bites.

Since the text file is tiny, it's all about your images. Use the 'save for web' function in Photoshop or a similar tool to get the compromise you want between quality and file size.

I personally use Fireworks and set the image as a smaller file but quailty of the image is reduced.

The size of the page actually increases when I add more txt and use CSS - most of my pages dont have images but this is something I am not going to get hung up, I was just wondering how people get their pages to be approx 7K.
