Please help with flash site

i downloaded a flash template which you can view here http://www.templates247.com/t217/ So I downloaded it as a .swf file and I was wondering what program I could use to edit it. I was using a program called Sothink swf quicker but when I open the template I can only edit the first page. If you go and look at the template you can click on main,reviews,,downloads,fourm, and contacts. With Sothink it wont let me edit the pages that the links take me to. Please help.

I personally use flash mx to edit swf files, but you might want to read up a bit on flash itself before trying to edit things, as it is not as easy to use as it looks from the outside.

did you buy the templete?
usually you would get a description and the .fla file

Yes, I do have the .fla file of it also but what can i use to edite it?

you need macromedia flash
just ba aware that the learning curve of flash is steep as joecoolfreak wrote, it will take quite a while to get good at flash

make sure that you play around with a copy of the .fla file first

Really.... since he has the FLA, now just need Flash to make the changes. Also, Ricoool gav you some GREAT tip, BACK UP your FLA first!

It didn't come with subpages, it's all the same page the links go to, you need to make your own subpages then you'll have something to work with.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'edit pages' as it's likely, everything is bundled into the flash file. Save for the forum, I suppose.

What that means is, your looking for movie clips in the .fla file that corespond to the links your refering to. - Contacts would refer to a portion of the flash movie where the 'contacts' movie clip is located. If you wanted to edit the information for 'contacts' find the 'contacts' movie clip (or so named movie clip) and inside that, you will likely find the information you want to change.

Then theres the dynamic link to external imagery or text. Depending on how the flash is built, it could very well be linking to external text or xml files to pull data like images and text. So in that instance, the information for 'contacts' could be stored in a seperate, non-flash file like a text file or xml. If it is, you should have those as part of the package and should look to them to update your information.
