Fighting Website Fatigue

So, you designed the perfect website. It looked just like you wanted it to - 3 years ago.

A couple of years go by.... you've stopped seeing the clutter that has collected and you've forgotten all the cool things you were planning to do to your website but never got around to doing.

Am I the only one who has experienced website fatigue?

I did spend an hour today reworking and improving an important page on my website - and it looks .. so... much ....better.

Now, I'm taking a second look at my navigation, thinking about adding some java and thinking about how I can improve my customer's shopping experience.

And wondering if there are things stylistically that are dating my site even though I overhauled it just 2-3 years ago.

I got set off on this project because I have a new competitor in town who is raising the bar. ... good kick in the pants....

What motivates you? What do you do to help stay fresh when looking at the same ole site?

What small tweaks have you tried to liven things up when you don't have the money or time for a complete re-do?
