Creating a new newsletter

I have a gaming website at the247arcade.com and a small list of about 130 subscribers. I have never sent out a letter to them but would like to start.

It isn't going to be a newsletter for really selling stuff I don't think but more just to keep people coming back to the site hopefully to improve PPC advertising.

I don't want to send out a complicated HTML newsletter. Something simple with the logo at the top, social media and RSS at the top right, a couple of images and some news. Probably a full width letter would be fine too because there won't be huge amounts of content.

I would like some similarity to the site so it's familiar to my readers but mainly just colouring and the logos.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Have a read through Email Standards Project. There is lots of information about what techniques you should use to actually build your newsletter in regards to making it cross-email client friendly.

I would suggest you still use an HTML email. You can keep the HTML very simple with just background colors etc: But, I would definitely use a third party system like constantcontact, icontact, or verticalresponse. Campaign Monitor offers a good one as well. But, HTML email is the way to go. Be sure to use tables in your design as email clients are annoyingly bad at reading all CSS layouts.
