Shopping Cart?

Can't find a dedicated shopping cart sub forum.
So.... Here I am.

Question: what search term would I use to find shopping carts that I could integrate into my existing website?

It seems most of the carts are not designed like that.

Hi. If it's for the site from your signature, then you can search for "PHP shopping cart scripts".
Also, I would suggest to log into your hosting account control panel and search for "Softaculous" or "Fantastico". Those are script autoinstallers that can be used to easily install shopping cart script for your site in few clicks.

Other than a couple of Wordpress plugins, I am not aware of anything that is easy to mod into an existing site. All the ones I have looked at have way too many bells and whistles, multiple themes that are hard to template and multiple language files. Every time I tried to theme one, I found it more work that just starting from scratch. Just really bloated critters they are.

If you are only using PayPal as your gateway, writing the code is not all that difficult. I can offer some clues where to start but we should probably have that discussion in the coding forum.

Mals Ecommerce is easy to put into an existing site and free up to a point. This is just the cart.

There are other hosted shopping carts where you can insert button coding that goes to their cart.

Could try Magento Go; or the regular Magento product. Depends on your technical ability -- how skillful are you? :-)

I ended up needing a whole site re-do. Rapidweaver is causing my mac to crash. Plus I wanted all the features of the cart I found to work with my site (featured products, soft cart, best sellers, etc)
I decided to go with Fortune3. Great feature set, integrates with Endicia, and allows amazon checkout. Plus tons of other perks...facebook shopping page, great back end, great support too!
At first i was a little skeptical about the carts that charge a % of sales. But, I'd rather do that then get hit with a bandwidth exceeding bill. Kind of like paying per click instead of per impression. Know what I mean?
