What is the latest hotest website design?
I am eager to know what the current design style is. I have been browsing new websites that look different. Previously, lots of websites would have slideshow banners with typical headers and footer. Nowadays, I have been noticing websites that are slightly different. Examples of what i am refering to: airbnb, relayrides. These are new designs to my eyes.

I'm not a designer to I cannot comment on the current design trends but smashingmagazine.com new design is pretty cool, utilizing responsive design.

I feel like the current trend hasn't changed for maybe a year or two. People are high on jQuery designs with CSS/HTML. I have a feeling within a year more people will be moving toward less uniform designs and move toward asymmetrical designs.

It is a neat website. Although it is heavy on content, it loaded pretty fast. This is a new type of layout I have seen recently.

I agree with you. One or two years back, most of the websites had same layout style but with different themes. But pretty much they looked alike. Slowly this trend is changing.

Those designs are also new to my eyes, but I like the airbnb design. It's very neat and loads fast.

Minimalism will still work for 2012. And nice photo angle and composition will greatly help your site's design to have more impact. Try also to check on brochure-type design and putting 3d images in your website.

Design style hasn't changed much, though functionality through jquery and html5 is getting a good run at the moment

The latest in design is responsive web design.
Not much of a change in "The look and feel" department.

Responsive and Dynamic designs.
Magazine-like websites, kinda an interactive sites but not flash-based.
jQuery powered combined with HTML 5 and CSS3.
I think that's all for early 2012

if you want to be a real designer do keep ideas of trend but not necessary to follow you need to have an eye for the design, you need to understand the requirement the element in design, the do's and don't whitespace, readability, usability and users ease.
If you are perfect in understanding all this you can create your own trend.

design are changed according to new year so the best design a most popular website has got is google.com hehehe really i think that because its light weight and simple to use.
dont think of making your website by adding many images or animations just provide the service which is simple user interface so the users likes it.

Pinterest is probably a new way of designing a website. The concept is you provide the information in picture instead of written text.
Everyone of us finds it much easier to understand and learn from an image or illustration.

Nice little comments from all. . . seem alot are just guessing though lol.
The latest website trends isn't revolved around just having a "website" no more, it's now evolved into having a full "website brand".
Branding Website's is the new era. There's alot of so called designer's and wannabe's who read a'few things and think they have it covered but regardless it's the new focal point for any business looking to become a industry leader in customer presence in whatever industry they are.
For those who want to know what branding is....
- Color theme is just much more then a look. *it's the business presence"
- Products, Partners, and assiocated partners aka network sites being marketed through the site.
- Each section is designed specifically for that area.
(IE: products/shop different then support pages different then media pages ect).
I do alot of regular websites where customers have low budgets, and need just a nice site to promote there business, products and services but i get afew branding jobs out of those who have money and want to spend it properly with the highest success-rate. I do about 20 projects a week and atleast 10 full branding packages monthly, so i guess 1/8 job's isn't majiority but it sure show's signs of the expansion of website design in it's near future.
The web design industry is still in it's infancy as most of these low-cost, un-trained self-acclaimed web designers are as well, so as new styles emerge other's will follow.
You get what you pay for (quick-templates have flooded the industry).
Small profits made quick just to make a buck have so many themes out there, so just find your industry, see what's out there and try to stay ahead of the pack.
Most branding jobs cost between $900-$6,500 but you can get away with a nice websites for under $300-$500 it just will be limited on what it can do, as $500 bucks dosn't get you 10 days of work lol.

They are definitely technologies and tools but they are essentially exclusive on a lot of the new designs. I've seen a huge trend lately of people NOT using Photoshop and just code to make templates.

These days the designing of a website is no more pertaining to the theme. One could find different designs for the website about the same theme and all of them could be equally comfortable in terms of navigation. I think that designers are more looking forward to some of the innovative designing rather than following the same symmetrical designing approach. I would say that the innovation is what decides the latest trend.
