Why Web Design Matters
Here is a good blog post to read for the designers and soon to be designers.
Quote:
The advent of social media has, in no way, undermined the crucial importance of the webpage as the central hub of an integrated online strategy that is worthy of that name for both companies and individuals. If anything, it has underscored its role as the organizing principle behind the disparate social networks, microblogs, pinboards and other newcomers to the Web 2.0.
Inadvertently, at times, for the untrained eye, the webpage (or blog) sets the tone of our online adventure and no effort should be spared to...

It matters a lot especially now we are pushing to Web 3.0 era. You must have a great user interface, color combination, menu/navigation, contents, infographics, and something interesting that let you users stay on the site.
If you don't have it .. more or less they will only spend a maximum of 2 seconds on your website.

Good post. I guess in a way it also shows why some designers never stick with the same designs. Sites are updated, not only with new content, but also new designs, or just new upgrades to old designs. Just like you would redecorate your house every now and then. I am extremely guilty on that account. I can never be satisfied with one design and leave it at that, when times change, or new techniques and trends come out, I am looking at a revamp. I think that a design is a way to communicate with a visitor on a different level (of sorts), and that a design helps define your site and business. A good, clean, design that's easily navigated shows that you have visitors in mind, where one that is overdesigned, could just be a designer going all out to showcase their skills, or one that is advert heavy, shows that the site is only there to make money.
(In my humble opinion).

Design has always mattered otherwise there wouldn't be a market or even college degrees for web designers. It is the window into the content of your site so if you can't captivate someone with a design right away, you've already lost.

The website design is the first thing that a visitor takes a note of and if the design looks appealing then it is for sure that the visitor will look further more into the website and try to attain more information from the website. So, then comes the content quality and the navigation of a website. So, I would say that all these are equally important to have a visitor to lurking around your website which could eventually lead to better business.

Design is the second thing that matters in the popularity of a website being domain name the first. And thirdly it matters the quality content and the good seo techniques.

In my opinion, good web design doesn't necessarily mean beautiful web design. For instance, a classified ads website in France is very successful even though it's quite ugly (leboncoin.fr) People say they like the fact it looks so simple, so non-threatening (!) Same thing with craigslist I guess.

According a good web design is not only necessary for the success or demise of a particular company or an organization, but at the same time it also shows the designing and developing skills of the developer and secondly how does a developer succeeds in making the website user friendly as well as user friendly.

Design does matter. Thanks for the link was a nice read... Most people look at the design and get impressed rather than looking at the content in the pages.

First of all your web site is the place from where visitor/clients are getting an overview about you, your business, products/services you are offering. So its very important to make it very professional and elegant manner. First impression is always a big factor. Same time you need to think you to differentiate your products/services from your competitors. So here comes the UI/UX, you need to be very careful about the presentation, color theme etc. Another factor is content; there should be some catch lines with enriched content which force visitors to browse your site in details.

Web design is the first thing which comes into contact with the visitor and makes the first impression in front of the visitor because that can be the potential client of your organization, So it is very important that how he feel about your organization by your website because your website is representing you. If it is not properly designed then it can annoy the visitor and he will never come to your website again and you can lose your client.

Web design is where we create attraction for users for them to come repeatedly. Also a good web design will improve traffic to the site. The design should be simple and more user friendly too.

Web Design matters in terms of publishing content and creating an attractive and user friendly website. Else, without design it becomes a plain window having only contents. Web design is important for branding and gaining popularity which grabs the user’s attention for increasing visitor’s on to the website.
