Portable HTML Editors

Got a quick question.
Can anyone recommend a decent portable HTML editor?

I wanted to try Bluefish, but it gives errors about missing .dll files.

I used to be a big fan of HTML Kit and always wanted to check out the portable version, but for $60??? I find it hard to believe it's worth it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I assume "portable" ---> no installation required, yes?

If so: why not try the portable version of Notepad++
Code:
http://portableapps.com/apps/development/notepadpp_portable/
You could also try the NetBeans portable version, but it's the bigger one with JAVA SE. HTML editing should be possible, though. If not, there is a plugin manager which should download the necessary files.
Code:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/nbportable/

What I want is an HTML Editor I can put on a flash drive and use on other computers.

Does NotePad++ work ok? I want it to work easily with code. Otherwise I could just use Windows Notepad.

Yep, Notepad++ Portable is awesome. It has syntax highlighting, you can define shortcuts where you touch a couple of keys and it inserts a block of code for you (such as a ul so you don't have to type it all out) - it was the only way I stayed sane at my last job, where we couldn't install software and I needed to edit PHP and CSS sometimes.

Well Ok.
I actually have Portableapps on a Flash Drive with Notepad ++. I just never used it much.
I'll just give it a try.
Thanks.

Notepad++ is the best ever and works perfectly. I've been using that software for years.

actually I am also using Notepad right now and it does really work. Aside from that, I haven't tried any html editor but if you also can give me some that are better than notepad then would be great.

Note pad ++ would be the best free HTML editor. Try using the Plugins as well. You will then know the power of NP++.

Just scan through the plugin manager (should be built in, even in the portable version) and pick whatever you like

If you search "notepad++ plugins" there's a post on V7N labeled "Notepad++ Plugins You Should Check Out" by user "csm" which has a number of good plugins in it.

You may also use the KompoZer. They are doing a good job too.

Right, not to mention that the last stable release was 2007, and beta 2010

I think there has been a consensus already, but I have used portable notepad++ for years and love it. I would highly recommend it.

I have tried Kompozer, and honestly, I just can't get into it. I can't put my finger on it, but I would really rather use something else.
Anyone else feel like this, or am I the only one?

I use Kompozer, there are a lot of bugs especialy when working in normal displaying mode and opening some little more complex html pages. The html tags appears corupted, but actualy there is nothing wrong. And yes sometimes crashes. However I used it a lot and got very familiar with it, I normaly work using the "source" sheet for edits and tweaks. For me it's ok since I only need it to edit something or to have acces to the source code while beeing gone from home.

NO!

NO NO!

NO NO NO!

WYSIWYG is NOT for beginners. You know why? Because they typically create bloated and almost unmaintainable code. You can also throw browser compatibility out of the window and, while we are at it, say goodbye to accessibility.

A beginner should NOT use a WYSIWYG editor. NEVER
