Expressions web to DW
I have a question for you. I am using DW CS4 for editing a page that was created using Microsoft web expressions. The problem I am having is that I can not see anything on the page at all. And I am assuming that DW has formatted the code to where it is now like 70,000 lines long. there may be 1000 lines between two brackets, for example, </td> 1000 lines, then </table>
I need to edit the file, but, is there a way to convert it from expressions web to dw since I dont own expressions web?

Guessing here, but it sounds like you have saved the rendered page opposed to the page Expression Web is using. i.e. sounds like in the Expression Web page it it "fetching" the content you want to edit once the page is called into the browser.
Do you have the complete set of pages Expression Web uses for the site?

Im not really sure I understand what you mean. I was given the login to the site, and opened it up in DW to edit. The site owner edits it in Microsoft web expressions without any problems, but when I try to edit it in DW, it displays it that way.

Can you see any lines with webbot bot in them above and below the lines you want to edit? They would be comments (i.e. they are greyed out in DW).

Then they are using MS includes. Look for the include that inserts what you want to edit and fix that.

I really appreciate your patience with me everytime I have a question. You have always been so very helpful!
By fix that, what would I be fixing? Or would I be editing the include instead?

You have to get a copy of the include. Edit it. Send it back to the site owner. They replace it on their machine then tell EW to update includes. They upload to the web space.
You can't just change the include. EW includes are design time includes which means technology in MS products update the page where the include is used on the person's computer.

Ok, thank you for your help. I will try to do it the old fashioned way instead and filter through all of that code. I dont want to bother the site owner with my updates each time.

Just an FYI, I think I found a workaround. I can take out the table that I need to edit, and put it in a new html file, where I can then see it. And I can then plug it back into the existing file and save it and the updates are there. Thank you!!

But... next time the site owner opens EW they will most likely wipe out your changes.
