A question about spry menu in Dw cs3

I am a newbie in Dw cs3, but I am trying to build some simple site for my personal needs. I read some tutorials how to make a drop down menu with the spry option. I made it, no problem. However, I want it to have no color but to blend with the background. I tried out a few solutions and every single one seems to work just fine in Dw, but when I try out the page in a browser, it doesn't work. Here are some pics what i have done.
If you have time and will, may you please try to find where my problem is and tell me how to solve it. Thank you.

So, first i created a spry drop down menu, everything good.

Next, I changed the CSS style to ul.MenuBarVertical.a, and then i changed the background color to "default color", and so everything looks just as I want it to look.

Then to try it out in Firefox...

Nothing changes. What am I doing wrong?
Please help.
Best regards!

Changing color changes the colour of the font, not the background colour.

If you want the whiteish background colour to disappear you have to change the background-color to transparent.

BTW: It is not uncommon for things not to match between the design view and live browser view. You need to actually test in the different browsers.
