Looking for a search engine for my website

Hello,
I am new here and not very computer savy but trying to learn.
I host my website thru netidnow, I really liked the ease of it and sales are very good. However the search engine they provide is somewhat lacking and was wondering if I should be looking for a better one.

When I try to use the search engine it often will not return any results and I am told to clear my cache, sometimes that works and sometimes it does not.
I have over 4000 items in my store with 10,000 being the goal within the next year. I like to create custom links to help my customers.

Can anyone suggest any ideas or search engines?
