Need Help with OS Commerce
I am a newbie trying out OSCommerce. Can anyone tell me a good way to get started or if there are any good WYSIWYG programs to help me?
What about a good web host that really simplifies the process. Too many offer it but the process is the sameas if you downloaded it yourself.

osCommerce is a php script driven shopping content manegement system for shopping. I would say that there is not a good WYSIWYG program to edit a script like this one. The look and feel are also ran by templates. So maybe find an already to use template to load into the system.
I would say that the OSCommerce web site forums would be your best bet to show how to edit the templates
I have installed osCommerce serveral times and have made minor adjustments for my clients.
What kind of changes do you want to make? Cosmetic? Layout or Content?

OSCommerce is very easy to use. Once you install it, there is an admin panel, which allows you to change everything, from tax rates to what items you have on sale.

No it is not Jim. If you dont mind using it out of the box it is a great application, but to really customize it you need a good degree of ability in coding.
With that said I am not sure that if my requirements are, e-commerce, and easy to use, for a NON programmer that os-commerce is the best choice.
If you like the look of os-commerce and dont mind your site looking like every other os-commerce site then it is the choice for you.

There is a serious lacking in good e-commerce development systems, I have always just made mine from the ground up in SQL so that way I get what I want. It is faster then messing with os-commerce or Miva for me.

I tend to disagree... I think you save so much time using a product that has already spent 1000 of hours of development and testing work on rather than building from scratch. If you can get a firm understanding php/mysql and osCommerce all together you can edit as needed making customizations and bringing the time for the web site to production much quicker.
osCommcerce has a good forum to use to help with customizations too.

Download it to your desktop via FTP. Edit it and upload it again in the same directory....
