Need Advice on Premade Auction Software Package

I am looking at starting a simple auction site with a twist in the theme and I am VERY concerened that by exposing the idea to a designer/programmer (I was initialy considering getafreelancer.com for bids) that the idea may be pirated by someone with the talent to churn out sites. I believe my concept is quite unique, very simple in design and concept and has the potential to make some decent $. I realize I may be paranoid but I hate to lose out on getting a jump on my idea before too many copycats show up.

So I was wondering what any of you think of the pre-packaged auction script software available on ebay for example? I am a concept person not a programmer but I am quite certain if I had the appropriate software that's designed specifically for creating auctions I could make my own site and protect my idea. I am now working on the marketing aspect so when the sites ready I will expose it as efficiently and professionally as I can to get a jump on any copycats as I am quite certain once the idea is out then it will be copied.

Any thoughts on this ? ? Any of you actually use it or design such software?

if it was me, i would talk to some design companies directly. one on one face to face... if it's going to be a real money maker you should be able to afford serious efforts by a quality design studio.

i would be happy to quote this project for you. in addition to designing the software at a reasonable price i could assist in the marketing of it as well. incidently a previous client of mine sells standalone silent auction software, and is currently ranked #3 & #4 in google (at least from where i sit) and #1 and #3 in yahoo.
