Hello there everyone!

Hello there chaps,

My name is Nathan and I'm new. I was searching the net for somewhere to call home really. This place looked cool so I thought I'd register.

I'm new to web design and currently I don't use html. I am using Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 and Fireworks.

I am trying to get a basic page up on the Internet for my band and am having a little trouble.

I am importing an image jpeg)into Dreamweaver to use as a background but it comes up as tiled an off centre in the web preview and I couldn't work out how to fit the background to the page. The image is in landscape view.

I thought I'd got round this by importing the image as an image file. This worked ok but now whenever I preview it there are black border lines in the left vertical and top horizontal edges of the screen. I have no idea how to get rid of these.

It's most frustrating because it looks fine other than this. It's only a simple black and white picture with a white background.

Any help or advice would be most appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Nathan

hi loki and welcome,

you can ad functions to your image by either using html or css
with css it would look something like this,

<img src="yourimage.jpg" style="background-position:center; border:0px;">
not sure what you wat to do with the image exactly, you can replace the center with left or right etc.

thankyou...

Hello and thanks for the welcome. It's great the way a forum can feel warm even though it's electronic. The human touch I suppose. blah blah. Anyway.

Thanks for the advice. The world of HTML is a little daunting to me. I seem to put in the same bag as maths for some reason. I'm terrible at Maths. So I just use the design feature in Dreamweaver and use Photoshop to edit my images. I'm sure I'm doing it all the long way round but then trial and error is a good thing I feel.

It's good to know that I can come here for support.

Oh and I think Loki is the Norse God of dance, wine and mischief and I liked the alliteration!

Cheers all!

Bye
