Help with a small map

Hi, im pretty much a complete noob with flash but can follow a simple-ish tutorial.

Im using flash 8

Basically what i want to know how to do is, make each island on my small map highlight in some way like change colour for example and some text appear in a space to say the island name and for the island to be clickable to go to a html page about that island.

this is the map i will use (probly), its not a true geographical map as i have changed the spacing of the islands but its kept its basic shape and makes it better for what it has to do - http://www.capeverdebreaks.com/CapeVerde-new.jpg

so if you imagine each continent which changes colour with a mouse over is one of the islands in my map.

wouldn't it be easier to do a mouseover map... i.e. on mouseover change the image? Or is your whole site in flash. Because it would be done almost the same exact way. You take two pictures of the same thing, make one RED and one BLUE. In flash you can make it so that the blue only shows when it is moused over.

well im open to any suggestions on how it should be done but if it could be written down in steps it would be great.

Reason i thought flash was cuz its all in one file then where with like rollovers u will be loading individual pictures and i want it to be smooth if you no what i mean.

The site is html, let me know what you think please.

do you have something like adobe imageready? I am pretty sure you can do an image map with rollover properties

i've just looked at that but inst it just like a hotspot in dreamweaver. when the mouse goes over the island it has to change colour and has to diplay to say what island it is and allow you to click it 2 load an htmp page about that island.

this is an image map I made... it doesn't have rollovers, but you can put rollovers on it. I made it in about 5-10 mins in imageready... I don't know if dreamweaver does it, as most of my coding I do by hand. Maybe someone else here knows how to do it quickly and easily in dreamweaver.

Hey I can help you is it just a map with color changeovers on rollover and then it goes to a html page within your site???

yer that is it essentially. mouse goes over the island and then that island will change coulour to stand out some text will appear in the space in the middle with the islands name and then they can also click the island to load the page.

That map you done isla is what i want but i need in that case each state 2 change colour with mouse over and text appear.

well i did mine with adobe image ready all you have to do is add roll overs
