AOL is Fussy about What Goes into HTML EMail
AOL has strict rules about what you can and can't use in HTML EMail.
For example...
Quote:
Here are the HTML objects that are not supported by the AOL Client mail:
ActiveX
Audio
External Style Sheets
Frames and IFrames
Java
Meta Refresh
Scripts: JavaScript, VBScript, Perl, etc.

I didn't know what these were, but apparently they're JavaScript programs of some sort:

With HTML Tooltips, each time the mouse moves over an anchor, you can have a description popup in a small window.

The reason I'm posting this info is because a few months ago, I'd read that AOL would not be allowing any more HTML EMail at all. This would be a major blow, but I guess they just aren't allowing certain elements.

Personally I don't send email to aol or receive mail from aol.
I also don't send html email anyway.
aol has such crazy rules about email , they started blocking all mail from my domain, I absolutely do not spam and don't even send out 20 emails a month.
they complain and block all sorts of things calling it spam and they are the worst spammers in the world (the company, not the customers).
oh well, don't want to turn this into a bashing aol thread, sorry,
robert

I don't think it would an unbiased discussion now would it?
I am a direct competitor of theirs, even though I am not much of a threat.

AOL automaticly cancle's account's that send out an email to over 100 people at a time or several hundred people within a minute.
So you write a worm, specificaly for AOL.
You have it email all the people on there buddy list the worm. If its not 100 people on the buddy list.
You do a member
directory search for a specific name. Then you use that name in the topic.
Not only are you having a worm sent to 100-200 people. You just made aol loose an account, so thats roughly $25/month AOL is loosing from that person.
Then AOL Customer's are so stupid, I estimate that 1/3 Of all people who receive the worm will end up with a cancled account.
Most people say AOL could loose 100,000 customer's in a week and they wouldnt care, I think AOL would care if they lost 2,500,000$ in a week.

I suppose with the worm you'd have to make sure it only e-mailed AOL accounts and therefore not only cancelled accounts but also blocked up their local and international networks also...
Now, anyone know how to write a worm and not have it traced back to this post and have AOL suing us for suggesting it?
