Making forums work
Someone here should write an article on how to make forums fly. I've got opt-in mailing lists with over 500 members but can't get a forum to take off to save my life.

Re: Making forums work
IMHO you need to build a site with unique content that will attract visitors first, then you can add a forum and hope that visitors use it. A forum on its own is almost impossible to promote.

i dont even care about my forum, its just there. i post useless stuff on it every once in awhile i think people would find interesting to read thats related to my site.

Best way is to get a few people on, and tell them to promote it. Thats what Ive started to do, though that way they usually get their friends, and in my case, 3000 posts from dutch people lol

Although its kinda hard to make your site unique enough when there are tons of sites from the same subject..

It really depends on what your site is about ..IMO..

And don't mind my crappy english cuz I'm dutch
