Need help with favicon.

I put the code in for the favicon and it works when i test it woth dreamweaver but when i upload it and check it it doesn't work

Have you uploaded the favicon too? I received an error when trying to enter the direct /favicon.ico url.

Favicons have to go on root. It doesn't appear to allow files on root.

In firefox, it works if i type in http://scabaptist.5u.com but doesn't work if i type in the www.

in IE, it doesn't work at all

In IE6 the favicon won't work unless you bookmark the site. It's a bug.

I was using IE 7. Does it have the same problem? And whats up with the firefox thing?

Though it's not necessary at all add this reference, and this is not a technical advice but an odd issue, it coud be the white space after "ico"

I used 50megs for a while, but the ads are too big. Try- http://www.optimumtools.com/freehosting/order/ if you want so far ad-free. It is managed by v7n's Blazed. BTW, I can't get the Favicon on favourites either - Is it a valid ICO file? If not, try www.favicon.co.uk . I Hope I've Helped!

It is a valid ICO file. I went to http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/ and it generates a .ico file from a picture.

That could be the problem. Generators do not always work.

Let say you use an image that's NOT RGB, and instead is CMYK.

You cannot post a CMYK picture using the standard <img src=".."> feature, it has to have additional properties.

Generators are too much trouble, and often, it is best if your picture was .png from the start, and then xfer it over.

GIF's also have problems appearing sometimes in browsers too.
JPEG's have never worked for me.
