I don't know of a function but you can use DOM properties. Use JavaScript to choose the image element you want to know about and use the .clientWidth and .clientHeight or .scrollWidth and .scrollHeight properties. If you think the picture might be too large to fit the window then the .scrollWidth and .scrollHeight are the properties you want. I think this might be what you are looking for.
