anyone use joomla

ok im trying to figure this program out because it seems like it has some good potential, but how do you use it, anyone who does will you please help me

yes i have it installed and im just tryin to play around with it and get used to it but its a bit overwhelming.

so lets start with
what are modules and mambots?
also, to have users register to my site does it take each one to have a mysql?

Ok, A module is a small mini php app that displays at an assigned position in the site template independent of the component / content currently displayed. Examples of Modules would be a login box, menu, sidebar listing of upcoming events etc.

A mambot is a global service global to the website that processes pages before they are displayed. Examples of mambots are wysiwyg editors, or a system to automatically replace a content tag with an image etc.

I'm really not sure about your last question. what do you mean by "does it take each one to have a mysql?" You only need one mysql database to run the entire site. The user records all live in the Mysql database on the server. This is pretty much universal for most content management systems.

ok im just playin around but my test site is defyit.net/joomla, now if you click on the contact us page it will bring up a form, how would i go about editing this page so i can get the top part out that says street suburb telephone fax ect. and just leave the form in there? it doesnt seem as if i can

also, how would i go about making my own modules so i can put things like advertisements inside the new module so it will match the rest of the site?

ok i figured out the first part, but now, how can i make my own freakin module that matches the orange table like things that all the other modules have. It is driving me nuts trying to figure it out

You can make your own module by creating a new module from the back end, writing html for it and assigning it to a position.

ok ive figured all that out sorry if i confused people. Im not too good at explaining things. But anyway whenever i make a content item it shows a section of it and then sayd read more with a link at the bottom. How would I just makethat whole content item show on the first page. without having to click a link tio see it

If you want the entire article to display, place the full article in the top of the 2 boxes.

If you have a wysiwyg editor turned on you need to turn it off before using html

ok and one more question, I set the settings for the parameters all on hide, like the author name, ranking created and modified date and time and all that good stuff. and it still shows it on my page. Im gonna need it to show only the html i put in the box. any ideas?
