Which is the Best CMS?
Hi all,
How many of you using Content management systems? Which is the best?
I use Drupal and believe it is the best available CMS.
What you suggest?

Personally, I think it really depends on the individual. What they want out of a
CMS. What features they need and what sort experience they have. I'm
currently using Joomla. I've played around with Drupal as well and think it's
fantastic but I seem to get along with Joomla better for most of the things that
I want to achieve with a CMS.

I second Joomla. I've been pretty happy with it and it quite an active community.

Depends on how it is used. Many of my web clients have found of them to be overly complicated and time consuming to learn. In these cases I recommend that we build a custom solution. Although this can be an expensive option, they get exactly what they want with no steep learning curve.

I don't understand why people will classify WordPress as a CMS, although they can be modified into one, but the nature of WordPress is simply a blog.
As for my personal favourite, it has to be Drupal, as it gives me high customisability and configurable option to modify the site to however I want it to be.
An example is the link above.

Agreed wordpress is a blogging platform, but the latest version of wordpress
allows you to have a static page as your home page. Its more like one can use wordpress as a lightweight CMS if need be...
As regards Drupal vs Joomla, the average layman coder would find Joomla more easy to use whereas Drupal is for the hardcoders..Drupal is of course the more powerful of the two..

I'm going to have to speak up on this one.
I've used about 6 different CMS systems ranging from Mambo to php-nuke. I've run into various problems with all of them, each one has it's own quirks. In my welcome message I posted that I've changed my CMS over a bit, gotten lazy with my website came back and changed it again etc.
My biggest complaints with any CMS, is that I should have to edit php, CS sheets, etc just to get part of the system working and if someone creates a mod or plugin, it should be created to be about as manual labor free as possible.
After a bit of searching I found e107 and I have to say that I absolutely love it. I havent had to edit php, or CS..except when modding a template that I wanted, and that is understandable.
It has all the power of almost any other CMS I've found, completely customizeable, great support community, tons of plugins and mods with a thriving community creating them and if you're completely new to CMS systems, php, linux, etc. They even offer a detailed video you can watch that shows you step by step how to install it, everything from creating the SQL database.
So basically, if you dont know any coding, or are like me and are a bit on the lazy side when it comes to editing code, you dont have to. But if you want to, you can.
An example, plug-in installation... in the admin panel, click on upload plug in, browse and find it on your computer (the .zip or tar file) click upload, and you're done. Just click install.

The best will be to code your own, but I could recommend Drupal, as you already use.

I've tried too many of the CMSs out there. Save yourself time and energy and check out Joomla.
It's got the largest community (support), it's open source (free), and it's got a ton of extensions (cool stuff).

Yes, Joomla is great, but I think it's to heavy. I would only recommend it if you want to learn all of its features. There are way too many

WebAPP CMS is by far much better CMS because the reason you mentions above. That is because it has a flat file db system which is compatible with all other db base systems out there and can be easily modified. Another good reason is because WebAPP is written in Perl (CGI), that mean both a safer script, bugs free and millions of addons out there written in CGi which can be easily integrated in the script according to your needs or desires.
I truly mean that WebAPP is the best top CMS out there. It is open source script supported in 35 languages.
