Question Pages don't finish loading - sometimes.

Hi, I've been working on a php website and sometimes the pages don't/won't finish loading in IE. It doesn't happen all the time but regularly. Yes, I'm a newbie and my knowledge base leaves much to be desired but I can't seem to find anybody that has ever experienced this problem. I started the site with DW4 but am now upgraded to DW CS3. Regardless, if anybody has any ideas on how to fix this problem - I'm all ears. It's bizarre.

Well Stewart, I don't have a real good answer for that. It's real strange how it behaves. It doesn't seem to affect the useability of any of the pages. I can click on any of the links and it simply goes to the next page even if it hasn't finished loading. When I get a page that won't finish loading, I can use the back button in IE and then click the forward button and it loads up just fine. That little trick seems to work everytime. Like I said, it's bizarre. I added a Flash image scroller today (down on the right hand side of the page - kazoo tunes) and that has transitions built into it but, again, sometimes the transitions work and sometimes they don't. I'm stumped. Thanks for looking at it though.

Stewart, In the interest of disseminating information such as it is, I may have found the problem. I was using the following statement in my code to get around the "Click to activate and use this control" message for Flash applets in IE.

<p class="menu">&nbsp;</p><script type="text/javascript" src="http://artistmanagementllc.com/MP3/flashfix.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://artistmanagementllc.com/MP3/flashfix.js"></script>

the actual code from the flashfix.js file is -

if (document.getElementsByTagName)
{
theObjects = document.getElementsByTagName("object");
for (var i = 0; i < theObjects.length; i++) {theObjects[i].outerHTML = theObjects[i].outerHTML;}
}

Now I'm not nearly smart enough to know what all that means. The flashfix code actually came from Cool Focus since I am using their applets but DW CS3 recognizes that the object tag is faulty and offers to fix it. I told it "yes change the object tags" and then took out the above flashfix code. It seems to have taken care of my problem. I may have had some wrinkle in there that it didn't like but regardless I can no longer reproduce the problem. Thanks again for taking a look at it and maybe this will help sombody else with the same problem. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to answer them if I am able. Have a great weekend!

That sound strange. Do you have any other sites on the same web host that have the same problems? I'm thinking it could even be your web host, or some type of problems with the web server dropping the request after so long or something.

Nope, this is the first time I've ever had a problem like that. This is my first php site and the host set it up for that. I had the host in on it but they couldn't find anything wrong with it either. I had Rob Young (Cool Focus) in on it and anybody else that I could think of. Actually Rob alerted me to the fact that with DW CS3 altering the <object> tags that I could take his flashfix.js out. So I did and the site seems to run a bit "smoother/faster" now. The server never did drop the request, it would just sit there and load and load and load. It never timed out and it never seemed to cause any problem with the function of the site. It worked ok. I don't know, it was truly bizarre.

jmitchell722, there's nothing to worry about. IE 7 does that often to me when I visit my site. Some images doesn't show up after the first request. I have to refresh the page to have it all in place.
Maybe this is just another IE bug (the FF users should be happy )
