I am planning to launch new article website. Not that big, but alright, plane and simple..what type of website script would be best for articles that you guys recommend?

Depends on if you want paid or free. There are some free versions that you will need to research because a few have serious security issues. I own the script on sploosher.com and could sell a copy for 25usd.

A decent free one that give a digg like site is pligg.

You get a few result doing a search in [G] for "article directory script"
