Worth $30K?
http://ceonex.com/
These guys charge upwards of $30k.
A few of their sites:
http://www.hostrocket.com/
http://www.lunarpages.com/
http://www.hostreflex.com/
I'm not saying the designs are bad. I'm just not thinking they are anything special. I've never thought LunarPages was an attractive design. Looking through the sites, a lot of them look like half the websites on the Internet. I guess I'm saying their designs lack the level of artistic originality and/or vision that would warrant a $30,000 price tag.

I hear ya ncsuk!
and JS yeah i think $30k (£16k) is well over the top, depending on the work they did behind the scenes, design is not just the skin or the code!

Nice sites! Bit expensive though. I don't see any particular reason to hate Flash The obtrusive use of it maybe. But if you understood the potential of it you wouldn't hate it. I also think many designers who hate Flash; can't use it.

They do look like Templatemonster's templates But maybe they're more involved. Not just the PSD and HTML. Also they're bespoke. The thing is, a lot of hosting companies sites all look the same. One of the most original is 2advanced.net!

Holy crap, 30K US?! That's crazzzzzzzzy.
Just out of curiosity, what is the average price firms charge to design sites? Does anyone know? I'm learning as much as I can so i can design sites and earn some cash while I'm in college... is it usual to charge 30K and actually have customers?! Dayyym...

Prices vary a lot. 30K is definitely not usual. People charge anywhere from $100 - $5000 usually, depending on what is involved with the project.

Thats pretty accurate. I know a Canadian company envision something, they charge around $5000, quite good sites too

30K is a lot of cash to put a site together. Maybe if it's super involved for some huge company... but these people don't cater exclusively to large companies. I suppose they get people with money to burn who are too lazy to see if there's anywhere cheaper.

They've also mastered the fine art of BS. They make their site sound all fancy with their stupid 3-steps "Prospect, Convert, Retain"... I guess people go for that. Personally I'd skip the fancy pretentious stuff and just say what service I'm offering and what I can do.

Good point...
The designs are fantastic, I'm not doubting that... but that price is just way over the top... but then again, a product is only worth what some moron pays for it, and if someone paid that much for it, then it is clearly worth that.
I would personally value that work at about $10,000 / £5,000 tops,
