It's pretty bad, if they can't do it, they should just tell me, but they waste my time.
|
Yeah, it's terrible.. I was impressed at first at how many other web designers there were out there.. but I realize that 75% or more of those guys were just good at talking.. they are no real competition.. but I give up making sites for people. I'm too nice. I'm only helping people on special occasion from now on.
This thread really seems to have struck nerve of a lot of individuals I'm glad to see that. Lots of valuable information here.

I've come to believe that this is the quality of any sub-par professional in any field.
Idiots want to make a good living. They're too dumb or too rude not to do it at our expense.

Disclaimer: I didn't read through the entire thread.
I work as a freelancer, as you call it, but I don't frequent the freelancer sites. All my clients come by word of mouth. I just wanted to point out that this works both ways. I'm sure there are plenty of people that have gotten a rotten deal with a freelancer, but the programmers can also get burned by clients-- I know this from personal experience.

Generalisation, not true. Some people can be, but people do succeed and you're generalising people because of perhaps your efforts.

Not at all because of my efforts. I'm blessed and lucky. I have worked unbelievably hard, harder than most people I know. For this I am rewarded. I have high standards. I have met very few artists, programmers and writers who can meet them.

Hm
Im a freelancer,
And honoustly ive never had a bad remark about my service nor about the conduct or end result.
There was one guy, but he changed his mind everymin, so that does kinda erratate someone, so i ended up giving him back his money,
If you wish to purchase something, you must be sure what you want.

I might as well get in my two cents worth!
I hired a feelancer on GAF to do a classifieds script. Their bid promised a completion time of 30 days. I had paid one half up front and put the other half in escrow. After 180 days and still not complete I cancelled the project and then had to fight with GAF for another 3 weeks to get my money in escrow back again. Of course I never did get back the money I paid up front.
But then again, you really can't trust anybody. I paid two different guys right here on V7 to populate a forum with 500 posts. The first one, 'Short81', made 6 posts and disappeared. The second one, 'ThreeGuineaWatch' made 22 posts and disappeared.
Fool me once,... shame on you! Fool me twice,... shame on me! It won't happen a third time.

Your point is well taken designpro, the thing is (a) you appear to have the right spirit and drive, (b) your post and signature are full of spelling mistakes.
I hope my telling you this helps your career as you appear to have the potential to do well.
