I'm not stealing them because they're public. Everyone is allowed to view them. The problem is that when you browse this website, you can only view them one by one. All I want to do is to get them all, with a download manager such as
getright.

Same here. Maybe they took down the site to keep you from stealing their images.

You cannot be serious. Everybody who can view diamonds in the jewelery store can consider them public and "download" them??

If you do webdesign, you should know how if feels if somebody parasite on yur work, steeling your images, your text...

Of course thats "stealing" them. People pay decent money for web design, stock images etc etc etc and they don't take kindly to people just taking them - hence the hefty fine for voilation of copyright.

If you still think that because they're on display and therefore anyone has the right to just take them - next time you're out shopping go to the butchers and try taking a few steaks that are in the "window on display"

So many people think they can just take stuff don't they. I can't tell you how many times I've found my entire template or graphic sets stolen and some little prick attempting to sell them. Ggggrrrrrr the Lion Roars  They usually remove the offending pages pretty damm quickly when I contact their ISP and host

Considering none of us can see the page, why are we all assuming it's just the normal page of the site? Maybe it is a free image gallery or something of the sort, so stop bitching at this guy untill we know what it is.

yeah , I agree with this forum, people steal images without giving even a 1% thought how much work and pain it takes. Few days back i saw images from my site http://www.himadventures.com stolen and posted on some other websites.

Can I take some legal action against these thieves, but I haven`t copyrighted any of the images.

As soon as your images are finished they are copyrighted. Look at the copyright law.

WHAT WORKS ARE PROTECTED?

Copyright protects "original works of authorship" that are fixed in a tangible form of expression. The fixation need not be directly perceptible so long as it may be communicated with the aid of a machine or device. Copyrightable works include the following categories:

literary works;
musical works, including any accompanying words
dramatic works, including any accompanying music
pantomimes and choreographic works
pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works
motion pictures and other audiovisual works
sound recordings
architectural works

These categories should be viewed broadly. For example, computer programs and most "compilations" may be registered as "literary works"; maps and architectural plans may be registered as "pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works."

WHAT IS NOT PROTECTED BY COPYRIGHT?

Several categories of material are generally not eligible for federal copyright protection. These include among others:

Works that have not been fixed in a tangible form of expression (for example, choreographic works that have not been notated or recorded, or improvisational speeches or performances that have not been written or recorded)

Titles, names, short phrases, and slogans; familiar symbols or designs; mere variations of typographic ornamentation, lettering, or coloring; mere listings of ingredients or contents

Ideas, procedures, methods, systems, processes, concepts, principles, discoveries, or devices, as distinguished from a description, explanation, or illustration

Works consisting entirely of information that is common property and containing no original authorship (for example: standard calendars, height and weight charts, tape measures and rulers, and lists or tables taken from public documents or other common sources)

INTERNATIONAL COPYRIGHT PROTECTION

There is no such thing as an "international copyright" that will automatically protect an author's writings throughout the entire world. Protection against unauthorized use in a particular country depends, basically, on the national laws of that country. However, most countries do offer protection to foreign works under certain conditions, and these conditions have been greatly simplified by international copyright treaties and conventions. For further information and a list of countries that maintain copyright relations with the United States, request Circular 38a, "International Copyright Relations of the United States."

For those who are interested in more information about US Copyright Laws go to:

http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ1.html
