Embedding a sound file into a webpage.
Hi Folks!
First of all, I apologise If this isn't posted in the correct section, but I couldn't see anything more appropriate?
So, my question is:
Is there a way to embed a sound file into the opening of a web page, where the audio doesn't restart when the page is refreshed? (typically, we are looking at a .wav file, currently using embed or bgsound.
Thanks in advance,
Cal

Hi Cal
It's pretty much not possible to keep music playing once you have refreshed that same page.
Think about it, refreshing a page is pretty much the same as moving onto another website and going back to the one you were on before, there would be no way for the music to play on.
Now you could have the embedded track popup in a tinny window, chances are though the user will have pop ups blocked or will close it.
Other than that I don't think what you want to do is feasible.
Sorry

Although terrible, you could use Iframes or some sort of variation. These are not good though.

I thought this may be a tough one. Yeah, I thought about iFrames, but didn't hold out much hope.
Thanks for checking it out guys, much appreciated.

Please don't take this as a personal attack, but just in case you have not come across discussions on this topic before, some people will immediately close a page if music starts to auto-play. If I've misunderstood how the music will be implemented, do please ignore me.
ignoring that bit of advice for a moment, would using a cookie not help? As in first visit, music is played, cookie is created, 2nd visit, the cookie's existence is noted, so music not played?

Not all all! .... all feedback is welcomed.
Basically, I am researching this for a good friend who would like music to automatically play on entry to their website/forum, but they don't want it to restart each time they click on a separate area of the forum, that's pretty much what they would like to overcome (if feasible, but I have my doubts now)
Cheers!
