Child Sponsor Website

I am working for a school in Ecuador that has people in the US sponsoring tuition for some of the poorer students.

I want to design a donor site where people can log in and see their sponsored students.

I would also like to have the site list students that need sponsorship, with the option for people to sign up and sponsor a child.

Does anyone know of any open-source or low-cost software that I can tweak to achieve this? Thanks all.

Thanks for the input, I can code it myself if I have to, but I would rather not recreate the wheel if one exists... or if there is a square wheel that I can shape to our needs...

I think I know what you want to do, but really am not sure. I think sometime back someone I know created a site like that, the person ended up using I think SMF and did some tweaking in the user-groups.

The person would log into the site, and would become a member a lot like here, and when the administration would allow them access he would make them part of a group, you might want to try something like that? I mean there has to be something out there, but I can do some searching for you to see what is out there and get back to you.
